ILLUMINATOR
SCULPTURES
The Illuminator sculptures are
part of a growing fleet. An illuminator refers
to an illuminating agent; a person or thing that illuminates
or gives light intellectually or spiritually. I
imagined these ship sculptures going forth, each with
a unique attitude of illumination

This loosely affiliated area of interest
comprises a growing fleet of sculptures, though not a
specific series development. They include an amalgam
of personal experiences from living throughout the United
States, and sensitizing to the grand and intimate visual
realities of my surroundings. There is also opportunity
for ironic found object humor |

WAR SCULPTURES
This work began after
the 2003 American invasion of Iraq. My feelings
are hard against this shortsighted and blundered undertaking. My
response was a fleet of sculptures depicting momentary
aspects of war through the figurative and literal edge
of satire. Toy
soldiers, dolls and balls relate to child-like fun. Seashells
refer to an enjoyable beach experience. The manner
I context these objects reveal an edge of playful aesthetics
and a sinister disposition. |

STEEL SCULPTURES
I collect all
sorts of steel implements and tools. I enjoy
welding these forms into sculptures. It is a
way of combining the extant history of steel objects
and dramatic design into distinctive iconic ships. |
